ESET HOME Security Essential

Improved interface

The interface in this version has been significantly improved and simplified based on the results of usability testing. All language and notices present in the GUI have been carefully reviewed and the interface now supports right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic. The online help is now integrated into ESET HOME Security Essential and contains dynamically updated support articles.

Virus and spyware protection

Proactive detection and cleaning of more known and unknown viruses, worms, Trojans and rootkits. Advanced heuristics identify even previously unknown malware, protecting your computer from unknown threats and neutralizing them before they can cause any harm. The Web Access Protection and Anti-Phishing features work by monitoring communications between web browsers and remote servers (including SSL ). The mail client security feature provides control over messaging over the POP3(S) and IMAP(S) protocols .

Regular updates

Keeping the detection engine (formerly known as the virus signature database) and software modules up to date is the best way to keep your computer as secure as possible.

(cloud-based reputation)

You can check the reputation of running processes and files directly with ESET HOME Security Essential.

Device control

Automatically scans all USB flash drives, memory cards, and CDs and DVDs. Blocks removable media based on media type, manufacturer, size, and other characteristics.

HIPS function

You can fine-tune system behavior, set rules for the system registry, active processes and programs, and fine-tune the security status check.

Game Mode

Postpones all pop-ups, updates, or other system-intensive activities to conserve system resources for games or other full-screen activities.

Bank payment protection

The bank payment protection feature provides browser protection when using internet banking or online payment gateways so that all online financial transactions are carried out in a trustworthy and secure environment.

Support for network signatures

Network signatures provide fast identification and block malicious incoming and outgoing traffic related to bots and batch exploits on user devices. This feature can be considered an improvement in the field of protection against botnets.

Intelligent firewall

Prevents unauthorized access to your computer and use of your personal data by unauthorized users.

ESET spam protection

The share of spam in the total volume of messages transmitted by e-mail is about 80%. Spam protection protects against this problem.

ESET Anti-Theft

ESET Anti-Theft improves the security of user information in case your computer is lost or stolen. Once a user has installed ESET HOME Security Essential and ESET Anti-Theft, the corresponding device will be displayed in the web interface. Using the web interface, users can manage ESET Anti-Theft module configuration and administer Anti-Theft settings on their devices.

Parental control

Provides family protection from potentially unwanted web content by blocking websites of various categories.
